National Science Day Celebrated at Government P.G. College, Ranikhet

Ranikhet, February 27, 2026: Government P.G. College, Ranikhet celebrated National
Science Day with great enthusiasm and academic spirit on February 26 and 27, 2026. The
two-day programme was organised by the Science Popularisation Cell of the college in
association with Vigyan Bharati, Dehradun, with the aim of promoting scientific temper and
encouraging students, especially from rural areas, to take interest in research and
innovation.
The first day featured Undergraduate and Postgraduate Poster Presentations, Oral
Presentations, and Model Exhibitions. Students actively participated and presented
innovative ideas with clarity and confidence. The competitions provided a meaningful
platform for young learners to showcase their scientific understanding and communication
skills.
On the second day, students attended online lectures delivered by eminent scientists from
reputed institutions. Dr. Avinash Dhamija from IIT Jammu spoke on nanostructured
functional materials and their applications. Dr. Neha Pandey from Graphic Era University
discussed microbial diversity and its role in biotechnology. Dr. Yaseera Ismail from
Stellenbosch University delivered an insightful lecture on quantum communication
technologies and their future relevance. The sessions broadened students’ academic
exposure and connected them with emerging areas of research.
In his address, Prof. Pushpesh Pande, Principal of the college, emphasized that rural
students possess immense potential and can achieve excellence when provided with proper
guidance and opportunities. He appreciated the efforts of the organising committee and
encouraged students to remain curious and dedicated to scientific learning.
Dr. Bharat Pandey, Coordinator of the Science Popularisation Cell, emphasized that the
Departments of Zoology, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Botany functioned
cohesively under one umbrella, reflecting strong interdisciplinary coordination and a
shared academic vision.
Dr. Stuti Joshi, Co-Coordinator, encouraged students to develop a research-oriented
approach, while Dr. Nidhi Sharma appreciated the support extended by all science faculty
members.
The programme was attended by Prof. P. N. Tewari, Dr. Prachi Joshi, Dr. Prasoon Joshi, Dr.
Niharika, Dr. Sheetal, Dr. Kiran, Dr. Arti, Dr. Garima Tamta, Dr. Rashmi Rautela, Dr. Nirmala
Joshi, Dr. Mahiraj Mehra, Dr. Bhatt, Dr. Deepa Pandey, and other faculty members of the
college who motivated students throughout the event.
The celebration concluded with the distribution of certificates and prizes to the winners.
